We are writing to inform you of a significant rewrite of how Ctrl-Bar works: Today, Ctrl-Bar connects to your Phone via Bluetooth and then your phone to the car via cell. This has proven to have a few weaknesses, including:
We are writing to inform you of a significant rewrite of how Ctrl-Bar works: Today, Ctrl-Bar connects to your Phone via Bluetooth and then your phone to the car via cell. This has proven to have a few weaknesses, including:
- Areas of bad cell service,
- The phone app sleeping in the background, leading to loading issues,
- Slow response times, and more.
Starting in June, Ctrl-Bar customers will get an OTA update for free. This update will enable Ctrl-Bar to connect directly to the car with Bluetooth, avoiding all the abovementioned issues.
After installing this update, you will only use your phone app to set up your Ctrl-Bar. After that, it will work as a standalone device regardless of whether your phone is close or has cell service.
This will significantly improve the experience for all customers. We wanted to say a thank you to all customers for using Ctrl-Bar, and we can’t wait to get you this update!
